What are the major changes in the new Standards compared to the 2017 version?

Modified on Wed, Sep 18 at 11:02 AM

Major changes can be reviewed in the document “Two-way Mapping: 2017 Mandatory Elements to the 2024 Global Internal Audit Standards (and Back),” located at www.theiia.org/NewStandards.

This document features two tables to help users understand the changes: the first maps the 2017 elements to their counterparts in the 2024 Global Internal Audit Standards; the second maps the requirements and essential conditions from the 2024 Standards to their equivalents in the 2017 IPPF. A glossary mapping tool is also available.

The Global Internal Audit Standards, published on January 9, 2024, incorporates content from not only the 2017 International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing but also the following elements of the International Professional Practices Framework® (IPPF®): Code of Ethics, Core Principles for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, Definition of Internal Auditing, Mission of Internal Audit, and Implementation guidance.

IIA members can also download the “Conformance Readiness Assessment Tool” to help identify changes required to conform with the Standards.
